London Legal Community Takes Strong Stand Against Fake Social Media Content

Emergency meeting convened to address misinformation and initiate legal action

An emergency meeting of the London legal community was held in response to the circulation of false and fabricated videos on social media.

Barrister Rizwan Sulehria, Chairman of the International Lawyers Club UK and Principal Solicitor at Briton Solicitors, attended the meeting alongside Director Hafiz Abdul Ghani, who expressed full support for the initiative and confirmed complete organisational cooperation in addressing the matter. Participants strongly and unequivocally condemned the malicious content and agreed that strict legal action will be taken without delay against those responsible.

Key decisions from the meeting:

  • Civil and criminal proceedings are being initiated against the individuals involved
  • Legal action has already commenced
  • The matter has been escalated to the High Court of England and Wales
  • A joint legal fund will be established to ensure coordinated action against similar incidents in the future

Further consultations with legal professionals and civil society representatives across the UK are expected next month to strengthen collective response strategies against misinformation and digital abuse.
